Please join us for a talk by artist Bruce Tapola on July 26 at 7:00 pm. Tapola’s paintings and sculptures explore the idea of sources abstracted and divorced from their context, becoming something unrecognizable and sometimes funny. He is interested in everything from pop culture to the futurist dreams of the mid-20th century. Tapola will be speaking about his work and its development over the years, beginning with “some rather important high school work” and including his greatest hits and misses over the last two decades.
Tapola received his MFA from Montana State University in Bozeman. He is currently a professor at Saint Cloud State University, where he teaches in the Department of Art. Tapola has shown his work nationally and in countless venues in the Twin Cities, including Midway Contemporary Art, Soo VAC, Franklin Art Works, Art of This, the Soap Factory and the Rochester Art Center, Rochester, MN.
